Exhibition Openings/Special Events

Exhibition Openings:
Openings at The Soap Factory are always the same format, 7pm ‘til 11pm. In general we have two shifts of volunteers working throughout the evening. Shift 1 runs from 5pm to 8:30pm and calls for two bartenders, two front desk attendants (greeting) and one steward who helps the bar and conducts visitor surveys. Shift 2 is 8:30pm to 11pm, with the same staffing needs. We also often need help throughout the day prior to an opening for the final finishing touches.

Weddings:
Depending upon the size of the wedding we generally require two shifts of two volunteers and one member of staff or intern (e.g. 5:00pm – 8:30pm then 8:30pm – 11:30pm). Principally we are there to watch the artworks and make sure that guests are not being overly noisy or doing something that is detrimental to the building.

Special Events
• Clean The Soap Factory for public and private presentations
• Greet guests at special events
• Hand out programming to guests
• Represent the Soap Factory
• Steward and guard art works during weddings and events
• Conduct frequent walk-throughs
