The Soap Factory's Volunteer Handbook
Volunteer Biennial Call for Submissions 2010

Our Volunteer Corps:
The Soap Factory is a contemporary art gallery located in the former National Purity Soap Company building. The building is a 48,000 sq. ft. wood and brick warehouse making The Soap Factory the third largest contemporary art gallery in Minneapolis/St Paul, and one of the largest devoted to emergent practice in the USA. The mission and day-to-day operations of the gallery are made possible by the contributions of our valued volunteers and interns. Numbering between 70 and 100 members at any time The Soap Factory volunteer program provides hands-on support in the following areas: gallery supervision, maintenance, construction, art installation, artist assistance, special events, administration, design and much, much more.

Volunteer Incept Periods:
We offer four New Volunteer Orientations throughout the season. Volunteers are welcome to volunteer for as long as they are able. We also encourage people to come and volunteer on a short-term basis for certain special events such as our Halloween Haunted Basement. All new volunteers at The Soap Factory are required to attend an orientation day in the gallery, where basic training will be provided. Any additional training will be provided through: training sessions led by staff or interns and/or peer-to-peer training for certain tasks.
